Sim Etiquette

Not that everyone likes to hear about it, but we do have rules here. The rules apply to both this RPG and the writers, potential applicants and veterans alike. You won't find these types here, nor do we accept them. This is just basic etiquette. More can be found at the end of this article.

"Sword of Damocles" Syndrome:
By definition this is when the GM writes an overly structured plot that doesn't allow flexibility by the writers nor accepts input from them to expand on areas of opportunity. This does not occur here. Every writer on the Galaxy is by presence alone a fantastic writer and well-encouraged to flex their creative muscles in giving us an epic story from their point of view. Anyone is welcome to contribute a 'script' to the RPG at any time as well, and coordinate it with or without the GM's assistance.

The "Ghost" Sim:
Where every writer on the sim sits back and does nothing. One or two posts a month? Forget it. We run about 25-40 a week at peak periods, 10-12 a week when slow. If you can't handle large quantities of writing...don't say I didn't warn you. Writers are expected to post once a week minimum.

The "Clueless" Sim:
Where people in general have no clue what to do. Applies to both GMs and writers. The Plot GMs are easily approachable and will help out when you're in a pinch, but it's expected that the writers develop their own storylines. If you can't do this, we'll just turn your PC into an NPC (non-playing character), since that's essentially what it already is, and the owner will be asked to leave the sim.

"Superhero" Syndrome:
Where a writer writes his or her character so outrageously unbelievable that it goes beyond any semblance of reality. We all write our characters based in realism, with real flaws and real quirks. Respect that by writing believably and we'll all win. Plus, superhero characters are clichéd, boring, and childish. It destroys the sanctity of the RPG. Quite disrespectful to everyone. Dealt with swiftly and judiciously.

"MINE MINE MINE" Syndrome:
Where writers take ownership of everything around them, excluding themselves from other writers. Isolationism and refusing to share go against the essence of this RPG. If you want to write alone and own everything, go pen a novel. This isn't the place for you otherwise.

"Glory Hog" Syndrome:
The one type of writer that drives me nuts. The person that jumps in and solves everything at the drop of a hat, runs into a swarm of Borg and comes out without a scratch, saves the world every time... and ruins the episode or character development arc in the process. This type of writer would believe the story eventually revolves around him in the usual guise of hoping to impress the GM with his 'jumping into the plot' capabilities. This RPG is about respecting other people's writings, and sharing in a community. Glory Hogs/Superheroes get pianos dropped on them swiftly and harshly. No negotiation.
